For a holiday that combines adventure, wildlife, culture and sight-seeing, Zimbabwe safaris are not to be missed. Jamela Africa Safaris offers a wide range of tours that offer the best of Zimbabwe, giving you the chance to explore one of Southern Africa’s most beautiful countries. Situated next to Zambia, and sharing the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Victoria Falls as their border, Zimbabwe is steeped in natural heritage and a warm and friendly culture, with plenty to see and do.
Despite the country’s troubled political climate, Zimbabwe is still a safe and excellent travel destination, offering a wealth of attractions and activities. Find out what makes this such a superb safari destination with these Zimbabwe facts...
Victoria Falls
One of the most famous landmarks in Africa, Victoria Falls is also one of the largest waterfalls in the world. The Falls stand at a massive 1, 708 meters wide, dropping between 90m and 107m depending on the season. During the rainy season, the Falls create so much mist that is almost impossible to see them clearly, while in the dry season the views are breath-taking – a microlight flight is one of the best ways to take in the majestic views of the Falls. In Zimbabwe, the falls are located in the town of Victoria Falls, with the Victoria Falls National Park offering game viewing and bird watching.
Zambezi River
The Zambezi lies between Zimbabwe and Zambia, and is home to a range of wildlife and bird life species, including huge numbers of hippos and the ever-present crocodiles that lie lurking on the banks. The river is ideal for a host of water-based activities, from leisurely river cruises and canoe safaris to thrill-a-minute river rafting experiences, resulting in an excellent Zimbabwe holiday adventure that has something to suit all tastes.
Zimbabwe Culture
In addition to its natural wonders, Zimbabwe is also famous for its warm and inviting people, rich cultural heritage and excellent markets that boast an array of locally made items, from stunning malachite carvings to the popular wooden jewelery and charms. Traditional villages, dancers, delicious local cuisine and many other activities offer insight into the vibrant culture of Zimbabwe’s tribal groups, for an unforgettable experience.
