This UNESCO World Heritage Site is an absolute must-see, and is accessible from Livingstone in Zambia. The Falls are a massive 1, 708 meters wide, with a drop between 90m and 107m depending on the season. In the rainy season, the Falls live up to their nickname of ‘mosi-oa-tunya’ (the smoke that thunders), while in the dry season the Falls are easier to see, either at viewing points or via microlight flight, which is a fun way to get a bird’s eye view over the majestic Falls.
Travel in Zambia is nothing without a visit to one of the country’s excellent game reserves. Game that can be seen in Zambia’s national parks includes large numbers of elephant, as well as lion, leopard, many species of antelope, hyena and a number of other game species. Bird life is also prolific, with a host of beautiful species including the ubiquitous lilac-breasted roller.
