Namibia is situated in South-West Africa, and is quite possibly one of the most beautiful countries in the world, with endless space, vast deserts, harsh rugged coastlines, perpetual sunshine and some of the world’s most incredible natural attractions.

Some of the top reasons to explore the country can be discovered in these Namibia facts, giving you everything you need to know about the country and what makes it such a covet-able travel destination...

The World’s Biggest Dunes

One of the biggest attractions in Namibia is the towering sand dunes that can be found at Sossusvlei. Situated in the Namib-Naukluft Park, these dunes reach a towering 300 meters, and climbing the dunes at dawn to watch the sun rise over the peaks is one of the most awe-inspiring experiences on earth. The dunes lie within the Sesriem Canyon area, which is also a key attraction on Namibia holidays, giving you the chance to explore the world’s oldest canyon.

Etosha National Park

Etosha is one of the top places for game viewing in Namibia, and is ranked as one of the most beautiful parks in Africa. The Etosha region is one of the more lush and fertile regions of Namibia, resulting in an abundance of wildlife and bird life within the park. There are 114 mammal species, 340 bird species, 110 reptile species, 16 amphibian species and one species of fish within the park, with huge herds of elephant, as well as big predators such as lion and hyena to be seen. The park is also home to the massive Etosha Pan, which is a great mineral pan that covers about 25% of the park.

Skeleton Coast

The Namibia coastline is home to the rugged Skeleton Coast, where many ship wrecks dot the coast. The Skeleton Coast National Park is one of the most interesting and beautiful parks in the country, spanning desert, wetland and coastal habitats. A range of bird life as well as marine life can be found in this region, and photographic opportunities are outstanding.
